“My partner and I secured the services of Lisa Marechal to design our boutique store, Classic Option. We offer women’s evening wear for both sale and short term rental. Another merchant who has a shop on Maiden Lane recommended her to us. We were concerned as our budget was humble in comparison to this other shop. Lisa presented us with a realistic picture of what the project constraints would be but was also filled with enthusiasm offering a number of possibilities worth consideration as design solutions.
There was a lot of creative problem solving which Lisa spearheaded. We could not afford new furnishings but Lisa found some wonderfully eccentric hand me downs which were slipcovered. Lisa designed some very simple but elegant fixtures and case pieces and had them made by a metal sculpture artist she knew. Incorporated into one wall, a display case was designed and fabricated for jewelry and accessories and on another, she designed small shelves arranged in a whimsical manner that were lit carefully. We became a neighborhood icon and our shop became a showcase for our merchandise.
We have received many compliments on our shop. One of the nicest was to be included in an article about San Francisco’s most intriguing boutique stores shortly after opening. This compliment belongs to Lisa’s efforts as much as it does to us.”
